In high school I had a professor who made a club for anyone who wanted to join. I don’t remember what it was called exactly, but it was really just to open up, be creative, invent things and learn about ourselves. He told us he wanted to teach us how to be happy. He said to us “The only way to be happy is if you can find beauty in the smallest things.”
I did not understand entirely what he meant until I felt the change in my life occur from doing just that.
Finding beauty in everything around you, even something as small as a bug or a grain of sand, being curious about what is in front of you, helps you stay in the present and focus on reality.
You can plan for the future and think about the past all you want, but that tiny grain of sand you pick up and look at under a microscope just for fun, is SO MUCH MORE REAL.
You can feel it, smell it, taste it, it’s right thereĀ in front of you. How amazing is that? There is nothing like that in the future or past.
